MEMBERSHIP OBLIGATIONS

A. All members are responsible to keep their dues current, to pay in a timely manner all fees, fines or any other charges assessed to them.

Each year, at renewal time, the Club will mail your membership renewal form.  This is a bill for payment, not a piece of scrap paper to be discarded.  Read it and follow the instructions.

The renewal form, with all the requested information completed, shall be returned with your payment of dues and other fines and fees assessed to you.  Additionally, you must send proof of current membership in the National Rifle Association, such as a Xerox copy of your NRA card or the label from your last NRA magazine, which shows your NRA expiration date.

Your membership renewal will not be processed unless you have fulfilled all the requirements.  If you lose your renewal form, a duplicate will be offered for a Five Dollar ($5.00) charge.

Members whose dues are in arrears (not paid within the allotted time), which is after the close of the December general meeting, are required to file a new application for membership.  This means they must pay the new member initiation fee, the current dues, and any debt owed the Club, such as a workday fine.

The process of renewing your membership can be painless, if you read and follow the instructions on the renewal form and act in a timely manner.  If you find an error in your renewal form contact the Vice-President as soon as possible to have a corrected form furnished.  Do not revise the renewal form yourself or send a partial payment.

B. All members are to maintain a membership in the National Rifle Association.  You will be automatically expelled from the Red Brush Rifle Range if you don't.

C. All Members are to abide by the By-laws of the Club.  Failure to do so could result in disciplinary action up to and including expulsion from the Club.  A copy of the By-laws may be borrowed by any regular member upon request.  This article is intended to give a new member a simplified sampling of the By-laws that are necessary to get started in club activities.  It is not mandatory that a member read the By-laws, however this will not excuse the disobedience of such rules and regulations spelled out in the By-laws.

D. All members are required to do one workday for the club each year.  Those exempted are disabled members and members who are at least sixty years old.  Official work days will be announced in the club newsletter and other opportunities may be available.  Failure to do a workday will result in a fine at renewal time.  The fine beginning in 1998 will be Thirty Dollars ($30.00).

E. All members are to protect, preserve and use wisely the property and resources of the Club.  Theft and vandalism of club property or another member's property will not be tolerated.  Lost and found property should be reported to the Club Secretary.

F. All members of the Club shall conduct themselves in a cordial or business-like manner, practicing good sportsmanship at all times, while doing the business of the Club or using the range facilities.

G. The use of alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs or being under the influence of such a mind-altering substance while at the range, shall be grounds for disciplinary action, up to and including expulsion from the Club.

The moderate consumption of alcoholic beverages while representing the Club or conducting official business is acceptable, provided the place and time is not inappropriate, and provided it is not disruptive to the purpose of the event.  Being in a drunken state is not acceptable conduct.

H. Any Member who fails to uphold a good standing within our community may be expelled from the Club by action of the Board of Directors, as described in the By-laws.

I. All Members will practice firearms safety at all times.  They will abide by the safety rules established by the Club Directors and report willful violators to the Board of Directors.

Additionally, they will follow the instructions of the Club Range Officer while using the range facility and the Match Director or Match Range officer while participating in organized shooting events.

J. No member is permitted to disclose the combination to the lock on the range gate, except to those persons authorized to use the facility or as authorized by a Director.

K. All members are to abide by all Federal, State and local laws while using the range facility.

L. The Club President is authorized to appoint any member of the Club to a special committee for the purpose of conducting Club business.  The term of such an appointment shall not exceed a one year period, except by voluntary acceptance.

M. All Members are required to demonstrate their knowledge of the Red Brush Rifle Range rules and safe gun handling procedures to the Club Range Officer, if requested by that Officer or the Directors.

Members who will not or cannot successfully demonstrate such knowledge and ability may be restricted from using the range until the Member receives adequate training and can demonstrate their ability to safely use the range.
